Carry It Forward: The Story Behind Skyraider USA

An open letter from founder Johnathan Henninger on American craftsmanship, heirloom-quality firearms, and the legacy we leave behind.

To the Skyraider Community,

I want to share why I started Skyraider USA, what inspired our approach to American-made firearms, and what I hope this company will stand for in the years ahead.

I've spent much of my working life making things. Manufacturing teaches you to appreciate details, the care that goes into every component, the patience it takes to get something right, and the responsibility that comes with putting your name on the finished product.

That appreciation for craftsmanship became the foundation of Skyraider USA.

I wanted to build something people would be proud to own. Something thoughtfully designed, meticulously crafted, and built to be trusted. Something that could serve its purpose today and become a treasured heirloom tomorrow.

That vision became the foundation of our message:

Carry It Forward.

To me, a great tool can become an heirloom.

Whether it's a finely crafted instrument, a family keepsake, or an heirloom-quality firearm, its value can eventually grow beyond the materials used to create it.

Over time, it carries memories of time spent together, lessons learned, and the people who owned it before us.

When something passes from one generation to the next, those stories go with it.

That belief shapes how we approach craftsmanship at Skyraider USA, from the details of our custom 2011 pistols to the care and attention that go into the finished product.

We aren't simply creating something meant to be owned. We want to build something worthy of being remembered.

Something that reflects the pride of the person who made it and the values of the person who carries it.

Something worth passing down.

Carry It Forward: More Than a Philosophy of Craftsmanship

But Carry It Forward reaches far beyond the firearms we make.

All of us have had someone invest in us.

Someone who taught us a skill, gave us an opportunity, helped us through a difficult season, or showed us what it means to be a good person.

I believe we have a responsibility to carry that good forward.

Sometimes that means taking the time to teach someone what we've learned. Sometimes it's helping a neighbor, keeping our word, or simply being present for the people who matter most.

Those choices may seem small, but they matter.

They shape what we leave behind just as much as anything we build with our hands.

Because legacy isn't measured only by the things we own. It's measured by the values we pass on, the people we influence, and the example we set.

The Values Behind Skyraider USA

As a husband, father, and business owner, that responsibility means something deeply personal to me.

I want my children to see care in my work and integrity in how I treat people.

I want them to understand that doing something right matters, even when no one is watching.

And I want to build a company whose message I'm willing to hold myself accountable to.

At Skyraider USA, our commitment to craftsmanship is inseparable from our commitment to the people who trust us.

You'll see that in how we approach our products, how we present them, and how we take care of our customers.

From the details of our American-made 2011 pistols to the experience of owning one, I want our work to reflect the values that inspired this company in the first place.

We know that trust isn't something we're entitled to.

It's something we have to earn through our work, our actions, and the relationships we build every day.

Building Something Worth Passing Down

My hope is that when you pick up a Skyraider, you feel the care that went into making it.

That you recognize the thought, patience, and craftsmanship behind every detail.

And that, over time, it becomes something more than a possession.

Maybe one day, it will carry a story of its own. A memory, a lesson, or a connection between generations.

That's the kind of legacy I want Skyraider USA to represent.

Because the things we build may outlast us, but what matters most is what we choose to pass along with them.

Thank you for being here at the beginning of our journey and for giving us the opportunity to build something meaningful.

Carry It Forward.
